Q & A

Answers to some questions you might have.

Can you tell me more about your non-surgical Face lift?

Threads.

The choice of non-surgical face-lifting procedures is entirely patient dependent. This means that the decision to use suspension threads or volumizing fillers or both depends on the heaviness of the tissue, degree of ptosis (sagging) and quality of the skin.

Each patient is unique and there is no treatment plan that “fits all”. As such Dr Marks will always examine you and advise you as she would any of her dermatology patients before creating any procedural plan, which may involve a range of treatments and options.

I have moles that I am concerned about. What do I do?

Mole mapping.

Dr Marks practice prides itself on the gold standard equipment in house, which includes the FotoFinder allowing the doctor to track lesions over months and years, creating a comprehensive patient history and profile.

Together with the PhotoFinder and Dr’s full body examination and extended consultation time, follow up consultations can be extended to 6 months to one year depending on the relative risk of the patient. As such Dr Marks will always examine you and advise you before creating any treatment/Monitoring plan, which may involve a range of treatments and options.

I am struggling with Acne, and I need a treatment plan

Acne.

The choice of treatment for your acne is entirely patient dependent and will be based on the severity of the outbreaks, personal medical history, family history, as well the impact on the quality of life and scarring.

For very young patients who have mild cases, the acne can sometimes be controlled with a combination of in-house treatments which include the TheraClear, superficial chemical peeling, and providing advice on what skincare products to use. Dr Marks will always examine you and advise you before creating any treatment plan, which may involve a range of treatments and options. This is a block of text. Double-click this text to edit it.

What are chemical Peels done for, and what can they help with?

Chemical peels.

A chemical peel is a treatment in which an acid solution is to remove the damaged outer layers of the skin. In performing chemical peels, physicians apply alpha hydroxy acids (AHA), trichloroacetic acid (TCA), or phenol to the skin.

A chemical peel enhances and smooths the texture of the skin. It is an effective treatment for facial blemishes, wrinkles, and uneven skin pigmentation. chemical facial peels are popular due to the fact that they offer nearly immediate results and performed as an outpatient procedure. Dr Marks will always examine you and advise you before creating any treatment plan, which may involve a range of treatments and options.

How does CoolSculpting work?

Coolsculpting.

The CoolSculpting procedure targets and freezes fat cells with Cryolipolysis®, a unique advanced cooling technology. Fat cells in the treated area are then eliminated through the body's normal metabolic processes, gradually through apoptosis and phagocytosis, in a way that does not harm the surrounding tissues.

The price for CoolSculpting procedures varies depending on your areas of concern, the number of sessions needed, and your ultimate goals. Create a customized treatment plan with your provider that’s tailored to your body, your goals, and your budget.

During your treatment, you may feel pulling, tugging, and mild pinching. Controlled cooling is then delivered to the targeted fat so you may feel intense cold but this sensation typically subsides within 10 minutes as the area becomes numb. Many people read, check email or even take a nap during their sessions. Afterwards, patients are usually able to return to normal activities.

What can I do about my sun Spots/Pigmentation?

Sunspots/pigmentation.

The LimeLight Facial is a new, non-invasive approach to skin revitalization by improving skin tone and surface imperfections associated with ageing and photodamage by treatment of Skin Redness, Tiny Veins, Brown Spots and Sun Damage.

The treatment is ideal for any part of your face, neck and décolleté with skin redness, telangiectasia (tiny veins) or brown spots. Light (low contrast) brown spots, which were previously difficult to resolve, respond very well to treatment.

By customizing the LimeLight Facial program, we can customize a program to suit your skin type and selectively treat the brown and/or red pigmented areas on your skin.

When the pulse of light is delivered, patients will experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. Gel is recommended to cool the skin before vascular treatments. Anaesthesia or pain medicine is typically not required.

Treatment time depends on the area of the body being treated. However, most treatments should take less than one hour.

One to three treatments are usually sufficient to see results. Additional treatments may be recommended, especially for excessively sun-damaged skin.

Weight loss

While diet is the main method to control weight there are other weight loss solutions available. These include medical treatments and others that are used to target specific areas of fat, e.g. hips, arms etc. Various treatments can also be used to sculpt the body.

Dermapen

Dermapen Micro-needling addresses a myriad of skin issues ranging from wrinkles and fine lines to hyperpigmentation and stretch marks. It is also being used to keep the skin smooth and free from blemishes over time. Micro-needling is also used in minimising pores. Regular micro-needling session smoothens and evens out skin complexion.

During a micro-needling session, a Dermapen 4 punctures the skin with its microscopic needles. The resulting micro-injuries then trigger a series of healing processes that ultimately produce collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin are protein fibres that provide the skin with its firm and elastic qualities.

Vampire Face lift

The “ Vampire facial or lift” refers to the use of growth factors which are extracted from the patient’s own blood and which are injected back into the tissues to achieve a change in that tissue.

Its proper name is “ Platelet Rich Plasma” or PRP and as such is a primarily a skin rejuvenation tool. In other fields of medicine, it is used in joints and even eyes to bring about the reparation of damaged tissue.

The PRP can be combined with hyaluronan fillers to achieve lifting And contouring of the skin and to treat deeper lines. In general, its combined usage in this way achieves a gestalt, that is the whole outcome is better than the sum of the parts.

r marks uses PRP extensively for patients and always likes to meet you to discuss the various options in the consultation. There is no “one treatment fits all” approach with Dr Marks patients.

Each case is unique.
